Hepatic hydatid cyst

Age:

Liver: is enlarged in size measuring 21.5 cm with elevation of right dome of diaphragm. Left lobe is enlarged and is seen reaching upto the left hypochochondrium anterosuperior to the splenic surface

 Evidence of a large well defined fluid attenuating lesion with thick enhancing peripheral wall (pre contrast 49 post contrast HU 77) and hyperdense irregular internal membranes (mean Hu 30) noted involving segment VII, VIII, IVA of the liver measuring approx 10.7 x 10.5 x 11.7cm mm(AP X TR XCC). No evidence of calcification noted.


 The lesion is seen causing compression on right hepatic and right branch of portal vein, however normal enhancement pattern noted within
 Rest of the parenchyma shows normal attenuation and enhancement pattern. Intrahepatic biliary radicals are not dilated. Portal vein and common bile duct are normal.

IMPRESSION 

Hepatomegaly with a large well defined fluid attenuating lesion with thick enhancing peripheral wall  and hyperdense irregular internal membranes involving segment VII, VIII, IVA of the liver as describeds/o hydatid cyst
