MRI DEFECOGRAM
Protocol:
Dynamic imaging of pelvic floor was done in sagittal plane using T2W sequences during rest, squeezing, straining and defecation.
OBSERVATIONS:
Pelvic floor imaging:
At rest: The anorectal junction is abnormally low (2.0cms below the pubococcygeal line). Anterior rectocele is noted at rest. The positions of the bladder base and cervix are normal and noted above the pubococcygeal line.
During squeezing: The anorectal junction remains low.
During straining: Further descent of the rectum noted. No obvious descent of the urinary bladder or uterus / vaginal vault.
During defecation: There is further descent of anorectal junction. There is interval increase in the size of the rectocele and it measures 4.2cms in antero-posterior dimension. Mild lowering of the bladder base noted below the level of pubococcygeal line. No obvious descent of uterus / vaginal vault.
No obvious enterocele.
IMPRESSION:
Pelvic floor descent involving the posterior compartment with large anterior rectocele.
Pelvic floor descent involving the posterior compartment with large anterior rectocele.
