Study reveals,
· Main pulmonary artery measures 29 mm in diameter and appears dilated.
· Right pulmonary artery measures 18 mm in diameter and normal in caliber.
· Left pulmonary artery measures 20 mm in diameter and normal in caliber.
· Aorta and great vessels are normal in origin, course and caliber.
· Hypodense filling defect is noted involving right main pulmonary artery with extending into right descending pulmonary artery and segmental branches of anterior segment of right upper lobe, right middle lobe causing their near complete thrombosis.
Segmental branches of right upper lobe and right lower lobe shows contrast opacification.
· Hypodense filling defect is noted involving left main pulmonary artery seen extending into left descending pulmonary artery and segmental branches of anterior and lingular segments of left upper lobe causing their near complete thrombosis. However distal segmental branches of left lower lobe show contrast opacification.
· Calcified granuloma noted along right lateral thoracic wall.
· Tiny nodular opacity noted along right minor fissure.
· Calcified granuloma noted in segment VIII of liver.
· Both lung parenchymas appear normal.
· Trachea and major bronchi are normal.
· No e/o significant mediastinal / hilar lymphadenopathy is noted.
· Cardiac chambers are normal in size.
· No pleural/pericardial effusion is noted.
· Atherosclerotic changes are noted in the form of wall calcifications in the visualised abdominal aorta with few atheromatous plaques noted at origin of left renal artery.
· Degenerative changes are noted in the visualised vertebral bodies in the form of marginal osteophytes and end plate irregularities.
Impression: CT pulmonary angio study reveals,
· Extensive thromboembolism involving right and left main pulmonary arteries and its branches as described above.
