Dear all,
Here with sharing tips and things which I could gather in the walk of radiology till now as a student of this fascinating and never subject. Always learn to share what you know, no one has become poor in a subject by sharing what we know.
Texts
There are many texts which exist in the subject to learn the nuances and the gross details. I shall say my opinion about the subject and reading it which I have always felt is lovely.
During the residency, I felt there are two choices which we encounter,
a. Read all or much of the standard texts with trade-off and constraints to the available time. Reading the texts needs much time, but this will keep you prepared for viva, spotters and unexpected theory questions and the life at large which always poses intriguing queries and daunting cases. The whole problem of this approach is the time, patience and the effort needed to do it. Even when we know there is no shortcut an alternative to hard work, we fail to do it.
b. A more leisurely approach read the previous question papers – both DNB and the KUHS papers from the available articles, notes and the manorama berry series. This suits our lifestyles and time. The issue is it leaves us grossly unprepared for viva, spotters, cases and to life at large. What we should do, is a blend of both; to the extent, we can, being a resident in radiology.
1. General texts for routine reading –
Grainger / Sutton.
Manorama berry for question n answers – Not great book for practice otherwise.
2. When posted in MRI
Read DI Brain – Osborn for brain
Read DI MSK – Atleast the joints – minimum shoulder, knee and hip. Wrist to add if possible.
3. When posted in CT
Read Thoracic radiology Webb for chest
Read DI Abdomen / Lee Sagel / Haaga for abdomen
4. For Skeletal radiology
Clyde helms – Skeletal radiology, minimum to finish.
Greenspan / Yochum. I have always found greenspan easily readable.
5. Sub specialities i.e. OBG / Pediatrics / Head n neck – though occupy much of practice we hardly get time to read. Those with two years course hardly get time to read these. Just do the questions atleast. One month if you can spare to read antenatal imaging. Read articles for PNS / Temporal bone and neck space lesions and imaging.

At last, I got to say something to all. I am happy I met you all in walk of life. I don’t stand here to judge anyone or take any sides. All are same for me and hope you bury the hatchet sooner.
The travelling light, as well as knowledge will somehow get to the seeker if his search and efforts were true and in right direction. The human life is too very short to know even drops of knowledge in this mighty ocean called radiology.
