TUBULAR ECTASIA OF RETE TESTIS.
a benign condition, often bilateral, which is usually seen in elderly men. It is commonly associated with epididymal abnormalities (spermatocoele, epididymal cyst and epididymitis) and shares a common location with cystic dysplasia of the testis and intratesticular cysts. Obstruction may be the common underlying factor.
Sonography shows numerous small tubular cystic structures within the rete testis; a characteristic finding.MRI shows nonenhancing serpiginous tubular structures of low T1 and high T2 signal intensity in the vicinity of the rete testis. No specific treatment is required. Occasionally the differential diagnosis includes epididymal cystadenoma, adenocarcinoma of the rete testis, non-Hodgkin\'s lymphoma, and dilatation of the seminiferous tubules secondary to testicular tumour.
