TESTICULAR INFARCTION DUE TO EPIDIDYMOORCHITIS
Imaging:
USG B-mode: Heterogenous, hypoechoic echotexture of the left testis with thickened scrotal wall. Right testis is normal.
Doppler: No colour flow in left testis. Normal vascularity in the right testis.
This patient underwent left orchidectomy. The left testis was infarcted and gangrenous with pus in the tunica vaginalis. There was no evidence of torsion.
Epididymoorchitis leads to thrombosis of the testicular arteries and veins and infarction of the testis.
Not all testicular infarctions are caused by torsion.
