MRI BRAIN
Protocol: Multiplanar multisequence MR imaging.
Post contrast T1 w sequence.
Clinical History: Left cp angle mass.
OBSERVATIONS:
INFRATENTORIAL REGION:
· Well circumscribed lesion is noted in left cerebello-pontine angle cistern.
· The lesion measures 18x17x16 mm.
· It is hypo-intense on T1 and heterogeneously hyper-intense on T2/FLAIR sequences with areas of blooming on SWI images.
· The lesion shows heterogeneous intense enhancement on post contrast sequence.
· There is extension of the lesion into the widened internal auditory canal.
· Medially the lesion is indenting ipsilateral middle cerebellar peduncle and lateral pons without any white matter edema.
Cerebellar hemispheres are normal.
Fourth ventricle is normal.
Brain stem is normal.
Right Cerebello-pontine angle cistern is normal.
Cranio-vertebral & cervico-medullary junctions are normal.
SUPRATENTORIAL REGION:
Brain parenchyma shows normal signal intensity. No focal mass lesion.
No evidence of any obvious acute infarct or intracranial haemorrhage.
The 3rd and both lateral ventricles are normal. No midline shift.
Cerebral sulci and sylvian fissures are normal. Basal cisterns are normal.
Sella, pituitary and parasellar regions are normal.
Bilateral maxillary sinuses show mucosal thickening (left >right).
Orbits appear normal.
IMPRESSION:
Left cerebello-pontine angle mass with extension into ipsilateral internal auditory canal –s/o acoustic neuroma.
