Complete tear of Achilles tendon noted near its insertion site. There is retraction of the tendon, distal part of retracted tendon is located 10 - 12 cm away from the insertion site. 

There is loss of soft tissue over postero-lateral aspect of heel region, there is erosion over lateral aspect of calcaneum. Marrow edema noted in the calcaneum, predominantly along the posterolateral aspect.
